Despite fears that fewer donations, the poor economy, more people reading e-books, families going away for Fall recess and the lack of coverage by the local press would result in a very disappointing bottom-line, we were heartened by the comparatively good turnout. People seemed to be buying more books at a time too. Having fewer donations meant that we could concentrate on the quality, and give people more room to browse.

Of course, we couldn’t run this sale every year, if it wasn’t for a great team of dedicated volunteers. In alphabetical order, thanks go to the following people for their help with the sale and its preparation:

Fall 2011 Booksale Flyer with money-off coupon(PDF)

Thousands of books in many categories – fiction & nonfiction, hardcover & paperback, including children’s books & large print. Also DVD, VHS, Audiobooks, games, etc.

Most books 50¢-$1.50.

Here’s a little tip: Based on our previous sales, the first hour or two of the sale on Saturday is usually VERY busy, so if you’re uncomfortable with crowds or are bringing children, we recommend coming a little later on Saturday or any time on Sunday for a more relaxed shopping experience.

We are still seeking book donations and volunteers to help with set-up and break-down of the sale (set-up is on the morning of Friday November 4, break-down is Sunday November 6 from 4pm-6pm and on the morning of Monday November 7) and with the sale itself. Secondly, we were originally planning to have audience tickets available at the door in addition to allowing parents to reserve them with their child’s application. All our available tickets have been reserved, so we are afraid that there will be no tickets available at the door.
