More than 40 years ago, 130 Edison, NJ residents formed the Friends of the Edison Public Library to promote and support the building of the Edison Main Library. In 1995, the Friends incorporated, and the organization achieved 501(c)(3) non-profit status in May 1999.
Through the years, the Friends have expanded their role to include:
* Promoting public support and use of the Edison libraries
* Providing financial assistance to enhance library collections, materials, and equipment
* Sponsoring library programs
* Holding special programs and events to raise funds for the libraries
The Friends of the Edison Public Library Board of Trustees meets several times a year at the Edison Main Library. Members of The Friends are welcome to attend meetings.
